πŸ”΄ This month marks an important moment in the way πŸ”΄ This month marks an important moment in the way we understand domestic abuse.

More than 70 years after her execution, Ruth Ellis, the last woman to be hanged in Britain, has been granted a posthumous conditional pardon. While this does not overturn her conviction, it acknowledges that the domestic abuse she experienced was not properly recognised or understood by the justice system at the time.

Her story reminds us how far society has come. We now have a much greater understanding of coercive and controlling behaviour, trauma, and the devastating impact that sustained abuse can have on a person’s decisions and wellbeing. But it is also a reminder that our work is not done.

Every day, people experiencing domestic abuse need to know that they will be listened to, believed, and supported without judgement. Early intervention, compassionate responses, and access to specialist support can make a life-changing difference.

Today’s recognition of the past should strengthen our commitment to the present: ensuring that no one has to face abuse alone, and that every survivor has access to the help, safety, and support they deserve.

Together, we can continue to raise awareness, challenge abuse in all its forms, and create a future where everyone can live free from fear.

πŸ”΄ Five years on from the Domestic Abuse Act 2021, πŸ”΄ Five years on from the Domestic Abuse Act 2021, we reflect on a landmark change in the recognition of domestic abuse and its impact.

πŸ’œ The Act recognised that domestic abuse extends beyond physical violence to include coercive control, emotional, psychological and economic abuse. It also recognised children affected by domestic abuse as victims in their own right.

🀝 As we mark this milestone, we remain committed to providing specialist support and helping survivors and their children rebuild safer futures.

As the manosphere grows in influence, many boys are being exposed to harmful messages about masculinity and relationships.

Fathers and father figures can help by having open conversations and modelling respect, empathy and equality.

Healthy relationships start with positive role models.
