Children & Young People

We have a dedicated, specialist team who support children and young people who have been exposed to abuse.

This is a holistic approach that complements the support our team gives to the adult survivor.  Children and young people are recognised as survivors in their own right, and we prioritise their distinct needs, rights, and voices in our work. Witnessing or being exposed to domestic abuse can be harmful and distressing, with potentially serious effects on their mental wellbeing, influencing how they feel, think, and behave.

Our team provide your children with a safe, confidential and non-judgmental platform to express their feelings and worries.

Through one to one sessions in a safe space, we help them to build confidence and self-esteem and break the cycle of abuse in their young lives. We support them to understand that their experiences are not their fault and that healthy, loving relationships are possible.

We offer group sessions and trips during the school holidays which aim to empower young people through information, positive role modelling and boundaries, to equip them with the ability to make safe, informed decisions, manage anxiety, fears and confused emotions.

We work closely with local schools to support young people who have been abused and promote healthy relationships through our prevention work.
